Artist Statement

Kawartha Lakes, Ontario, Canada

Over my almost 20-year career in real estate, I have grown to deeply appreciate the places around me. My art, which is largely representational, is inspired by my life in Kawartha Lakes, my travels in Canada and beyond, and my upbringing in Northern Ontario.

My paintings are created using mixed media, collage, watercolour, and encaustic. These media, which contain natural elements (such as beeswax and tree sap) and repurposed elements like old book pages, help tie me to the land and ground me in the present. In addition, these media can be unpredictable, which introduces spontaneity into my work.

The goal of my work is to invite you to see these captured places through my eyes, to take you on a little journey away from your everyday, and to spark a feeling or evoke a memory.
